The online video game Roblox was created by Canadian David Baszucki, who had been programming academic physics and mechanical simulation software for several years. He created the first demo in 2003 and renamed the game Roblox the following year. The game was officially launched in 2006.
David Baszucki
In 2004, David Baszucki began developing a prototype of Roblox. Initially called DynaBlocks, the program was launched a year later as Roblox. The platform has a global community of millions of developers who share the common vision of inspiring kids to become software developers. Roblox has its own desktop design tool called Roblox Studio, and the Roblox Corporation owns about a quarter of the company.
After completing his education, Baszucki and his brother Greg created Knowledge Revolution, which sold millions of copies of their computer game Interactive Physics. Knowledge Revolution was bought by MSC Software for twenty million dollars. Baszucki later became a Vice President and General Manager of MSC Software, overseeing its desktop simulation division. Baszucki then founded Roblox with his brother Erik Cassel. Baszucki has since worked with the software company to build a new gaming experience, which is set to launch in March 2021.
Erik Cassel
Before he founded Roblox, Erik Cassel was an ordinary teenager. He studied basic skills, and participated on the school soccer team. Soon after graduating, Erik joined Knowledge Revolution, founded by his brother Greg. Erik worked with them until they were sold to MSC Software for $20 million in 1998. The following year, he created Roblox with his friends. The video game has been downloaded more than 200 million times. Since then, the company has become a household name, and the creators of Roblox are not even aware of it!
When Erik was younger, he had two children and a wife, but kept his love life private. After graduating, he joined a company called Knowledge Revolution, founded by his friend David Baszucki and his brother Greg.
